  1. if ya don't get sea sick! lol. that would definitely ruin it for ya.......make sure you research the ship/cruise line before booking...you don't want to be stuck on a ship with little or nothing to do..! make sure there are activities for your age (clubs, bars, shows, etc.) and what you are interested in doing while on board!

  2. cruises are extremely fun!! i would suggest taking one to mexico becasue you see different culture and its and exciting place.  it is also not too far away.  I would go on a carnival cruise...they are the best.  the rooms are nice and quite large and the food, activities, and environment is fun and cool.

  3. I have never been on one ...... but I have had alot of friends and family who have and they have all loved it ....... where are you going? need a travel buddy? ....... = )

  4. I have been on about 20 cruises and have 3 more booked right now.  I think a cruise is one of the best holidays that you can  take because you get to go visit interesting and/or historic places, like Rome or Athens, and then the ships provide the best room and board you can get, plus a long list of other activities on the ship while you are getting to you destination port stops.

The things that you can do on ship will vary by the cruise line and the ship. Many of the newer ships of all of the cruise lines have more activities than there are on the older ships. Older ships would in general be those launched before about 2000.

The types and number of activities also varies by cruise line with Royal Caribbean Cruise Line having by far THE most activities. Things that may be available depending upon the ship:

    - use the pools, hot tubs and water slides

-use the water surfing on a boogie board on ship (RC's Freedom class ships only)

    - use the full service gymnasium with all types of free weights and exercise machines

    - use the full service spa where you can get hair and nails done and massages and wraps.

    - use the sauna and/or steam rooms

    - use the mini-golf course and/or a golf driving range or golf simulator

    - use the roller blade track and/or an ice skating rink. If there is an ice rink there will be an ice show like the ice capades

    - use the rock climbing wall.

    - use the full sized basketball/volleyball/tennis court

    - play table tennis

-play with the over sized Chess/Checker sets and shuffle board

    - use the walking/ jogging track

    - use the video arcade

-use the kids only area, some with a pool and/or water slide

    - use the teens only area, some including a teen disco

-use the bowling alley (NCL ship)

    - shoot pool on a pool tables (RC ships)

    - go to a show room where there will be a show every evening, one for each dinner seating

    - use the game room with games and cards provided

    - use the internet cafe (they charge a fee for this)

    - use the library with books provided or bring your own

    - go to the disco that is open every night starting about 11:00 PM and lasting until the last person leaves.

    - enjoy the piano bar and/or the sports bar; all ships will have lounges and cocktails bars at various places on ship

    - some ships have a small movie theater and you can also watch movies (most for free) in your cabin. Princess has movies under the stars on top decks of some ships.

    - enjoy free 24/7 room service

    - use the casino for gambling

    - eat the huge variety of food and plenty of it, seconds and thirds are OK too.

    - sit on a deck or your cabin's balcony and watch the ocean go by.

    - go to art auctions

    - go to lectures and learning seminars on some ships

    - go to the Karaoke bar

    - enjoy wine tasting

    - shop for souvenirs

There may even be a few others things that I have not listed. Remember that not all ships have all of these things. Some may have only a few.  There are cruises, like on Norwegian cruise line, that are very informal.  There are cruise lines that are very classy, like Princess and Celebrity, and there are even cruise lines for seniors, like Holland America.  But regardless you can plan on just relaxing and being served.  For example, they will clean your cabin twice  a day.

So for me I look forward to doing as many of the above as I can and then enjoying port stop tours and activities.

  5. I personally think cruises are great.  But I guess it depends on what you like.  =)

Here's what I like about cruises:

    - Low-stress, minimal hassle.  Once I get on the ship I don't have to worry about driving, changing hotels, hunting down a good restaurant in a strange city

    - Good value.  Apart from having a more inclusive vacation, the prices generally are 30% lower than a comparably priced land vacation.  (They've got great economies of scale, plus they can hire people from anywhere in the world.)

    - Nice social environment.  People tend to be friendly and sociable when you're sharing a vacation for a week or more.  You can stick to your group if you want, but it's also easy to meet people.

The down side to cruising is that you'll only get a "sampler" of places you visit, since you're generally only at each port for one day.

There's an article here on "why people cruise": http://www.cruisesavvy.com/savvyguide/in...

And what a "typical" day is like: http://www.cruisesavvy.com/savvyguide/in...

    Hope that helps!

  6. YES!  Once you go on a cruise you'll never want to take a different type of vacation.  They are amazing in every way.

  7. I went on my first cruise about a year ago and really enjoyed it.  We took a Hawaiian islands cruise where we stopped on The Big Island of Hawaii, Maui, and Kauai.  The cruise itself was great -- good food, good entertainment, and the room was very nice (but a little small).  It was also great to get out and see the islands.  The only problem was we had an island stop every day, so there wasn't a lot of time to just kick back on the ship and rest.  My wife told me that was not a typical cruise -- you usually have one or two days at sea to get wherever you're going.  So I'd do a cruise again, but not one where you have a port of call to stop at every day.

  8. I had a wonderful time on my cruise I took a few years ago. I can't wait til my next one.  They are fun and offer all sorts of entertainment and activities to do. Do your research as to which cruise line offers you the best rate for what you want. I took Carnival.
