  1. NO!  This is not normal.  It could be bad filter capacitors in the low voltage power supply coming off the line rectifying circuits.  The low hum indicates 60Hz hum leaking through.


  2. No! It sounds like it has a power transformer with a bad lamination. I would return it immediatley.
