Is AFL rugby? No.

Is it similar to soccer? No.

It's closer to soccer then rugby. The objective is to get the ball down the field using short and long passes and kick it through the goal. The only similarity to rugby is that you can tackle the player with the ball and the shape of the ball.

Yeah mate they both tackle but the similarities end there.

no AFL is not rugby it's a breakaway version of the IRISH GALIC FOOTBALL the only two differences is the scoreing & the shape of the balls being used in the game
