A few years ago I used to be able to watch AFL in New Jersey on cable. Does anyone know of any cable stations that carry it? I got hooked on it and can not find it.

  1. The season isn't over yet, there are still 3 rounds left and then the Finals (playoffs).

Try contacting USAFL. Their website is www.usfooty.com. Phone # is 262-740-1353

    email: officemanager@usfooty.com

It's not what u want but might be the place to start.  They might have an answer for you, and they also have a Links page.

    Also try www.afana.com

    www.mhznetworks.org

  2. u where watching the playoffs. the season is over now

  3. For "go.dbacks", AFL is Australian Football League, you idiot. Arena Football is a joke, at least now the NFL, college and high school football (gridiron)  are starting up.

    Now to answer the question.

I discovered footy on ESPN by accident in 1982, been addicted ever since, been to Oz five times, 30 AFL matches I have been to, member of Geelong since 1997, charter member of the Australian Football Association of North America (AFANA).

Back to the answer. ESPN got too "important" to show footy a few years later. In the mid 1990's footy moved to the defunct Prime Network. Then ESPN had it back on ESPN2 for a year, then Fox Sports World got hold of it. Then FSW became Fox Soccer World and dropped footy after the 2005 season. Now it is on an obsure satellite channel only available on Direct TV at $59.95 extra a month called Setanta North America (Setanta is an sports channel from Ireland). I have yet to find a Direct TV dealer that has ever heard of Setanta, nobody I know has this channel or knows how to get it. Andrew Demetriou and the AFL are so happy that Setanta has the rights, but has no idea that nobody can see it. Yes, I am pissed off, I listen to footy on the AFL site via the internet, but have not seen a match since the 2005 GF.

I know this is long, but I hope it answered your question.

I want my footy now!! Geelong may be in a grand final, if lucky, and I want to see it. I probably will have to listen to the AFL site again.
