I have mild to severe acne and I went to the dermatologist recently. She recommend Accutane, but my mom doesn't feel like I need it. I hate having all these blemishes, and my mother knows my acne is bad. The dermatologist gave me Tazarac, Duac, and an oral pill. I've been applying the creams daily for the past month and a half, but I'll admit that I've slacked on the pills. My face looks a little better, but it always goes back to the way it used to be, no matter what. With Accutance, I'm required to be on birth control and have monthly blood tests to moniter my liver function. I've also heard that with Accutane, your face gets worse before it gets better. My two main questions are: Is Accutane too strong for me? And does the acne get worse before it gets better while on Accutane?

  1. i am a 13 year old girl and i just finished my 6 month course of accutane 2 days ago. i had moderate to severe acne and now my skin is so smooth, it looks like i've never even had acne. my acne did get a little worse before it got better, but that was just in the first two weeks. after that it all just started to go away. accutane has a different affect for every person but for me it was just right. birth control and monthly blood tests are not that bad. in order to know if accutane is too strong for you, you have to try it.
