Question:

Is Advantage Rent a Car a safe company?

I am traveling to Phoenix, Arizona in early February and am currently comparing car rental quotes. All the major companies (Alamo, Hertz, Avis) are offering prices around $250 for 5 days for a economy car!! I have never had to pay such high prices for renting a car ( I am over 25).

However, I noticed that Advantage Rent a Car is offering a mid-size suv for $176 for 5 days. Their location is located at the airport like the major companies. I am hesistant to book this company cause I have never heard of it and am having a hard time finding and feedback from anyone that has used it.

Can anyone please help? I would prefer to save close to $100 and have a much nicer car for our trip, but not if this company pulls "shaddy" tactics.

  1. don't know about advantage, but with all car rental companies, do either get the ins. or make sure your credit card co. will take care of it. The other answer was good advice

  2. I am a worldwide traveler and the only time I ever had a problem was with Advantage.  I was in Seattle and when turning the car in they noticed a small scratch (could have been made in a parking lot when another door scraped their car) and inisted on adding (I think it was about 250) to my bill.  I never buy insurance; leaving it to the credit card.  It was not going to actually cost me anything, but I notified the credit card company and told the circumstances and Advantage backed off.  Never gone back to Advantage.

I arrange for rentals, even plane tickets via priceline--where you make your own offer.  Sorry don't know their website.  Specify getting a car away from the air terminal would save you about 50 dollars.  Good luck.  Cheers.
