Is Albert Pujols the best player of this generation(Last 20 yrs) ???

Question

Everyone always says A-Rod & Bonds but these guys got zero championship rings. You cant be the best until you have been the best! Pujols has the world series championship & huge stats, thus do you agree he is the best player of this generation?

BTW Jeter might have 4 rings but he is not a powerhouse stats guy, put him on the expos in his early years & he is nothing (so dont include him)

Albert Pujols is great. But i still think A-Rod is the best. Even though he doesnt have a championchip ring, it will come. His stats are by far way better than Albert Pujols. At the rate A-Rod is going, he could turn out to be one of the best ever.

Championship rings don't mean diddly squat when you're talking about an individual player.  To win a championship, you must have a team effort.  Best player of our generation is Alex Rodriguez.

I also agree with utter that you completely contradict yourself.  For you to use Pujols ring as your basis of comparing him and A-Rod and then turn around and say you can't compare Jeter and Pujols regardless of 4 rings because his stats don't match up.

The guy above me is an idiot. There is no way Pujols is even in the same category is A-Rod or Bonds. Sure their hitting stats might be similar but thats about it. Pujols is slower than my grandma in a walker. Pujols hasn't won a gold glove and will never win one. A-Rod steals bases and has a good glove. Bonds is definately the answer to your question. Who else is in the 500 home run 500 steal club? Who is in the 500 home run 400 steal club? The answer to both those questions is noone. Noone has ever seen anything like this guy. A-Rod (15 Seasons) - 2 Gold Gloves (2002 & 2003)

Bonds (22 Seasons) - 8 Gold Gloves(90, 91, 92, 93, 94, 96, 97 & 98) I will admit may be hard for Pujols to beat.

Pujols (8 Seasons) - 1 Gold Glove (2006), Cards beat Tigers in WS that year, didnt they?

Pujols may not steal alot of bases, but remember he is a 1st baseman.

Pujols deserves to be mentioned as one of they best players in the last 20 years, whether you like it or not.

Bonds is a cheater so forget about him.  A-Rod and Albert are at two different stages in their careers.  Albert has what A-Rod doesn't have and that's a ring.

Jeter was never a power hitting so you can't argue that point.  What Jeter will have by the time his hall of fame career is over, is 3000 plus hits.  For a set up guy at the plate, which does not usually involved home runs as a rule, Jeter does have 200 career home runs and counting.

Just because a player doesn't have a ring, does not disqualify him from being the best. If it does, that means that Ted Williams should not be discussed as the best player or even hitter of his generation, and anyone who does not at least consider him in a discussion as the greatest hitter of all time is out of their mind.

i would have to say that ARod is the best player of this generation. Bonds was more feared, but if you look at the fact that ARod, in addition to 500+ HRs was a gold glove shortstop and is a gold glove caliber 3B, that is alot harder than being a power hitting 1B or even outfielder. He has tremendous stats and has been playing the toughest defensive positions for his entire career. Positions that you do not expect huge offensive numbers from but he does it anyway.

You contradict yourself when you imply that Pujols is better than A-Rod because he has more rings and Pujols is better than Jeter (despite his 4 rings) because he's not a stats guy.

A-Rod has proven over a longer period of time that he is the best player of this generation.  When Pujols got his ring they barely made the playoffs and just happened to have a hot streak at the right time.
