Is Alberta still booming with work?

I am a carpenter, British trained and thinking of moving to Alberta ciming from Ontario

yes it's still booming out there.

And yes buying a house will be INSANELY over priced but renting is not that bad. I have been looking at moving out there and it is actually cheaper than toronto for renting.

It is, but good luck finding somewhere to live. Rent is sky high and vacancy rates really low, and houses are way overpriced (although starting to come down recently).
