  1. Technically speaking, yes.  Generally in conversation and practice it's not seen as one.  But for scientific classification it absolutely is.

  3. It can numb you and dull your senses.  It was used as an anesthetic before other means were available.  It changes the way you act, so I would consider it just as much a drug as anything else.

  5. it depends on how you use it, if you use alcohol to get drunk, then yes it is a drug. If you drink in moderation because you like the way it tastes, then i would say no it is not.

  6. Absolutely, from a biological point of view. Many people would prefer not to label it as such, because of the negative connotations, but by definition it certainly is a drug.

  7. absolutely;  in fact, my 22 y/o son is in re-hab right now for oxycontin addiction;  about half the people there are for alcohol addiction;  just because it's in liquid form and legal (in some cases) it's still an addictive drug
