Is http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 McLeish the best that Aston Villa can do with? – English Premier League (Part 1)
Aston Villa had a truly horrendous 2010-2011 Premier League season. Just a few days before the season kicked off in August of 2010, Martin O’Neill parted ways with the club stating that he had not been backed by the owners to spend in the summer transfer window. For a good first part of the season, Aston Villa were managed by Kevin MacDonald who was responsible for their loss in the Europa League qualification stages.
In the English Premier League, MacDonald never really managed to successfully govern the players at his disposal and as a result, Aston Villa appointed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Darren-Bent-c10358’s signature from Sunderland.
It was seen as a ground breaking financial move by Randy Lerner’s club which was supposed to give them the impetus to at least finish in a Europa league qualification spot come the end of the Premier League season. However Houllier was not able to effect the club in a positive manner as Villa spend the latter stages of the 2010-2011 season battling against relegation. After the season ended, the Frenchman parted ways with the club following some recurring health concerns about his heart condition.
In the early weeks of June, it was revealed that Villa were out looking for a replacement for Houllier but during this time the tabloids also elaborated upon Ashley Young’s possible move to Manchester United. It appears that the English winger has already agreed personal terms with the Red Devils’. One of Villa’s best player’s is already on his way out of Villa Park. Speculation now also surrounds the future of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-c9879 Levy and co. embarking on yet another spending spree.
Things don’t look good for Villa as they finished 9th in the English Premier League 2010-2011 season after finishing 6th in the 2009-2010 season. But are things expected to take a turn for the better after Randy Lerner recently appointed Alex McLeish as the club’s manager? It doesn’t seem so. Firstly it is a perfect case of an American failing to understand the mentality that prevails in English football. Birmingham City and Aston Villa are staunch rivals and appointed the Blues’ manager as Villa’s next manager is not the best thing to happen at Villa Park.
Moreover fans are now out in force against McLeish as well as Lerner. They were already on the edge due to the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 but do these claims really hold some water?
