Question:

Is Alica Sacramone being robbed of a medal, or just plain unlucky? (or other) (for the vault finals)?

Cheng Fei FALLS on her knees and STILL gets a higher score?

I agree with Bela saying it was the "worst judging error ever" and a "ripoff".

Poor Alica. She had a bad day in the team finals, and then comes back from that two days later, gives it her all, performs with a few short hops, and still looses to China (what a surprise...) who had completely fallen on her second attempt.

  1. i agree with Bela

that was a complete ******* ripoff

now i'm convinced that china is cheating

there's no excuse for cheng fei to get a higher score than alicia

  2. She is just not good enough. You need to understand the balance between difficulty of the routine and the execution of it.

  3. She wasn't flawless that's for sure, but she lost by hundredths of a point, and even Bela pointed out that Chung Fe had an execution error (placing one had in front of the other) that deserved an 8/10 deduction and then she fell on her landing which is another 8/10 deduction, and they didn't take that many points off.  The Korean girl stepped out of bounds, but her execution score made up for it.

  4. Robbed of a medal, of course. And people are going to say I'm the "American sore loser"..**** off.

  5. i completly agree. even the girl who got gold stepped outta bounds. the german girl who got second did way better than the one who got first and then alicia did way better, didnt fall, and didnt step outta bounds and yet again gets crapped on.

  6. yeah i know wth judges.falling straight on knees wth. falling to her knees is understandable but it wasnt even close. gahhh i feel so bad for alicia..

  7. I would say being robbed, any gymnast who lands on their knees instead of their feet shouldn't even be in contention for a medal

  8. ok little kid, get your facts straight before you say anything. Cheng fei had a 6.5 difficulty on BOTH vaults. Alicia sacramone on the other hand, had a 6.3 difficulty on her first vault, and a 5.8 difficulty on the second vault. So Cheng fei's start school is almost A POINT higher! She did get the 8 tenth of a point deduction for the fall. She would have gotten a 16 if she didn't fall, (i'm talking about cheng fei)

    EDIT: http://sports.yahoo.com/olympics/beijing...

“The difficulty of the two vaults added up together was a huge difference between third and fourth place,” he said. “(Cheng’s) execution scores were as low as 8.5, which tells me that the necessary deductions were made. It might look strange at first sight, but if you look at the rules and the regulations, everything is as it should be.”

  9. This was a complete ripoff.  I understand that the chinese girl did a more difficult vault, but she FELL.  If you can't pull it off, you should get docked.  Sacramone did great on two great vaults.  She  should have at LEAST got bronze.  The other thing is, Oksana from Germany should have gotten gold, she was robbed as well, her vaults were awesome and executed very well, the Korean girl went out of bounds on her vaults, that should have put her in 2nd, to be fair.  The results should have been:

    Germany - Gold

    Korea - Silver

    USA - Bronze

    or

    Germany - G

    USA - S

    Korea - B

I really think the IOC should take a closer look at the tape on this, its hard for those in the know to understand it (Bela) and the commentators, some interest should be paid here.

  10. i don't think deductions are great enough for someone falling. Falling is like not even completing a vault because almost the entire set-up is based on the landing.

  11. Yeah I was like WTF!!!

But anyways I hope Alica recovers and comes to my place :P

  12. There were 3 girls who fell on their knee, the deductions was very consistent for "knee landing" for all contestant.... Sacramone has that nasty habit of hopping right after she land, it's her way of "faking a stuck landing". A lot of girls do that, but it just looks like a balance check. That's what cost her a medal...

  13. its about of bs! i think they need to call for some new judges!

  14. It was the worst judging ever. Plain and simple, Alicia Sacramone got robbed.

  15. Well, from what I saw she was robbed for sure.  The Chinese girl even fell down!

This was one of the most obvious and disgusting display of judging I have seen so far.

Baloney on those talking about the difficulty.  The Chinese girl had a major mistake on one, and actually fell down on the other.

This is inexcusable on the judges part.  Evidently the fix was in on this one.

I wish so much that we could take the human factor out of the judging.  As long as humans judge, they  will sometimes make horrible human errors.

    Sacramone definitely deserved a medal.

  16. ah-*******-greed. She got HOSED.
