Dont get me wrong, I've always thought Amare was one h**l of a player. But this one person thinks he's an MVP player. Every time I see Amare play, i see him get rebounds and put up decent numbers. But ive never been blown away by many of his performances. Maybe its because I dont watch Suns games much, but what do you guys think. Is Amare an MVP player??

  1. he has to be able to lead a team without steve nash's help. if nash wasnt there i dont think he would be able to do everything on his own and carry the team on his shoulders but he is still a great player

  2. To much competition and better talent for him to win the MVP.

    CP3

    Kobe

    Lebron

    Garnett

  3. No. He won't take over a game. He won't shut down another player. He dunks and blocks a few shots, but that's pretty much it. He has a jumpshot now, he developed it while he was hurt, but I don't think he is an MVP caliber player. I watch Suns games a few times a year with NBA League Pass. Most of his points come off Nash penetration and getting some crazy pass, that is where most of his points come from.

  4. Indeed. Amare is the best player in his team. Steve gets all the credit because amare is making little steve so good. nash is overrated because without amare's offense, nash will never be able to have that many assists. Amare is the best scoring big man in the league alone with Nowitzki. steve needs to go back to Canada or south africa.

  5. No, he's not even the best player on his team so I doubt it, but if he was to win anything it'll be defensive player of the year.

  6. no he is not an MVP type of player he is very exciting and fun to watch but alot of what he does is because nash sets him up for dunks and layups .......allstar not an MVP.

  7. Definitely not. Plenty of players score, and plenty can rebound.

There are two paths to the MVP (which is why it's always a close contest between two players at the end of each season). You can either be the best player on the best team, or be the best overall performer that season (e.g. Pierce vs Kobe this season. Kobe putting up the best numbers but Pierce being the best on the best team). Since Amare is not the best player on the Suns, nor do his numbers stand out, he is not MVP caliber. Remember, it's Most VALUABLE Player. Amare's value to the Suns is arguable. To be honest, Dwight Howard and Bosh could do what Amare does at the same level. And there are guys like Garnett who can do it better.

  8. He's close but the intangibles aren't there yet.  It is more than stats.

  9. Yes but there are 3 things that will keep him from ever winning!!

    CP3

    KOBE BRYANT

    LEBRON JAMES

  10. Amare Stoudamire is a great player but he's an allstar at best.I don't see him winning an MVP.

  11. Amare's good but there's this guys named Kobe Bryant and Stoudamire's got aways to go to catch him.

  12. Amare Stoudemire can put up MVP caliber numbers.

If you hadn't noticed, Amare was averaging around 21 points per game before the Shaq trade. Once Shaq got there and Amare moved back to PF, instead of C, his scoring sky rocketed.

He averaged almost 30 points per game after the all-star break and his scoring numbers went from 21 to 25 points a game. Next season (mark my words) you can expect Amare to average somewhere in the area of 28 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 blocks. That's MVP numbers.

So, if the Suns can win 55-60 games, expect Amare to be in the thick of MVP discussions next season.

  13. he was really amazing before his injury a couple year ago...but he is slowly coming back to this form that he once was...he is a great player that puts up good number however i dont think he will win a MVP because for one

    1) he is not the best player on his team..has steve nash

    2) there are other players out there like KB24 and CP3

    3) his team has to make it deep into the playoffs

    4) if he has any chance he has to get traded to another team

  14. Im a Suns fan Amare Stoudemire is an MVP Player. He is a flat out superstar he is a great offensive player very talented and athletic. Amare Stoudemire averaged 25.2ppg 9.1rpg 2.1bpg those are MVP numbers in my book. Amare Stoudemire will win the MVP one day.
