Mearsheimer states*:
"A buck-passer attempts to get another state to bear the burden of deterring or possibly fighting an aggressor, while it remains on the sidelines."
and
"The buck-passer fully recognizes the need to prevent the aggressor from increasing its share of world power but look for some othe state that is threatened by the aggressor to perform that onerous task"
Although Israel is not engaging in combat with Iran, is this theory applicable to the situation?
Or is it not just a case of Israeli national interest, and the notion of survival, at play? and thus not relevant to US involvement (as the US is in Iraq and clearly involved in the regional power struggle)
What do you think?
