In most US schools they swear alliegance to the flag every day.

That adds up 3 minutes every day / times/days per week/times weeks per year/ times years spent doing schooling.

Figure it out for yourself!

Is that a fascist indoctrination or education

  1. its just a way to get kids to sit still and stop bickering for 3 minutes a day, i wouldnt consider it anything. a lot more time is wasted in school per day than 3 minutes. and it doesnt take 3 minutes to say that d**n thing anyway, probably less than 30 seconds.

anyway, i was thinking that you meant real wealth and real patriotism like all those stupid patriot acts... not something as silly as the pledge.

  2. Please pardon my American accent.

    h**l Yes!

We had a taste of public school in America--we now home-school!  Kid jumped three grades in one year!

As far as discipline--Irish background and you know what that means!

  3. Are you one of those kids who stays seated during the pledge? In many US schools, there are teacher shortages, funding shortages, supply shortages etc so the three minutes a day isnt the biggest problem. Also, in my high school we have a moment of silence to pray or do whatever, so make it four minutes a day.

  4. Have you ever noticed that people get their bowels in an uproar over nothing?  I don't car what you do in this country, because we are lucky enough to have freedom of speech, someone will complain about it.

  5. i pledge alligence to the flag of the united states of america and to the republic for which it stands one  nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all.-13 seconds

  6. Of all the things that time is wasted on in U.S. schools and of all the ways America's wealth is wasted, I am surprised you would pick this one!  America's public schools are a disaster, but I personally think the Pledge of Allegiance is not the problem .  Extreme lack of discipline is a main part of the problem.

Also, America refuses to acknowledge that students have widely varying ability and needs.  Instead of testing students early and separating them into different schools according to ability (as many other countries do), we try to treat everyone the same.  This results in putting a lot of students into classes like Algebra, when they really should be learning a trade.  It is bad for the lower-achieving kids and the higher-achieving kids.

Anyway, as far as I know many if not most schools have done away with the Pledge.

  7. I think I would be more concerned about your country's prediliction for religious indoctrination, the same people who bang on about religious fanaticism in the middle east are the ones taking children and teaching creationism because it is cheaper that teaching science and appeases the religious right. For a country which has the separation of church and state written into its constitution, the church seems to hold an awful lot of power and in the long term it is possible that people who have absolutely no political savvy will be making decisions based on biblical writings of centuries ago and for a so-called 21st century power that does not bode well when the new economies of China and India get into full swing.  Could this be the decline and fall of the American empire before it actually achieves any lasting prominence in world history other than having been a capitalist expansionist state with mil;itary pretensions but nowhere to expand to?

  8. I think that you are right America's wealth could be better spent.  Check out this website -it has some good suggestions about how it could be better spent.

  9. They brainwash people in America so when they grow up they believe everything they are told so the rich elite get richer and poor get poorer and dream harder and in times of war (which is everyday really), there is a ready supply of cannon fodder.

  10. I'm English and it sounds very odd, like you are being forced to declare your love for your country.

In England you only swear allegiance to the Queen if you are a scout or are put in a position of power e.g. army or politicians.

Declaring your faith in your country mindlessly every day is like saying everything will be OK just because we are America.

You shouldn't be content with your country, you should strive to make it a better place to live.
