Is America maturing as a nation?

I figured when we finally got someone other than a white man in the white house, that it would be a sign that the U.S. was finally starting to mature a little. Now it seems that in 2009, we will either have the first black President or the first women Vice President.

Are we maturing at long last?

  1. I think so...times have changed!!!!!

  2. No, we're not.  All you have to do is look at how ignorant some of the voters are, saying they'd never vote for a black man because he's Muslim, or voting for someone based only on race.  How educated is that?  We have matured somewhat, but I feel like we've got a long way to go.  Whenever political elections can be run solely on positive statements, instead of negative campaigning, that's when we'll know we've matured.

  3. No  we are not maturing, gender or race has nothing to do with it. If sound policies are not the issues then America has not matured at all.  Republican or Democrat. Help keep down the rich= Big Government.

  4. We'll see in November, I guess.

    OBAMA/BIDEN '08

  5. Nope.  It's gonna be a man in charge no matter what.  There's a huge deal being made about Obama's race.  The maturity is coming from the Democratic party.
