  1. No,its just more brainwashing that we've been told since we were little, unfortunately, some adults still believe the lies they are and were told.

  2. whoever said that is a big huge liar.Liar liar pants on fire.

  3. Yes, but it is the responsibility of each individual to exploit their opportunities and  achieve a success level they are satisfied with. Nothing is usually free.

  4. No, it is not. We are taught believe that there is equal opportunity for all through ideas of individualism.  In other words, if you just work hard enough you will get there.  Unfortunately, there are a lot of Americans who work hard and do not achieve the "American Dream".  The American Dream could be becoming economically self-sufficient, owning a business or owning a home among many other things. Individualism is a core principle in this country, we pride ourselves on that.  However, it is problematic because it makes people believe that if they do not achieve their dreams, it is their fault.  Although it is true that some Americans do not live up to their potential and may be lazy, there are plenty of Americans that work hard and still do not get a piece of the pie.  The reason this is the case is because we stratify people based upon social class, s*x, sexual orientation, age, race, ethnicity, disability status and so on. Opportunity is not just created by individuals, it is created by larger social systems. There is no doubt that people have different opportunities in the U.S. based on these characteristics. Some people are more privileged than others.  Therefore, there is not equal opportunity for all.

  5. It is better than other countries when it comes to opportunity but its not yet perfect opportunity for all . However i believe it is a step foward.

  6. Of course not.

  7. No. It never has been. You just have to go back to school cliques to see that.

  8. That's what we like to think but absolutely not...if you play your cards right it can be.
