Question:

Is American society, as a whole, "too sexual?"?

I just got into watching this weeklong documentary on s*x that's on VH1 which talks about the history of the sexual revolution.

Although I'm halfway through the documentary, it got me thinking. Do you think that our society, as a whole, is too sexual?

Now don't get me wrong; s*x is good (in the context of marriage, but that's another discussion altogether) and it helps keep our species from dying out. However, in your own words, do you think that America should tone down their sexuality and take it in moderation or keep it the way it is?

In the documentary, the baby boomers rebelled against their parents' prudish generation by doing things their way, which meant having s*x outside of marriage as well as with numerous people, etc. To me, this is a classic example of one extreme leading to another extreme (if you get my drift).

Do you think that the sexual revolution led us to being "too sexual?" Is there such a thing as sexual moderation?

  1. Yes, and it's only getting more sexual as years past by.

  2. Yes our society is morally bankrupt and  to show that I'm not just pointing fingers, I'll admit that I'm probably as much to blame as anybody else. I'm not a fan of any of the Islamic countries, but they may have the right idea as far as de-sexualizing the masses. Perhaps we should give Shari'a Law a chance.

  3. s*x has been going on for centuries. America is still way too prudish.

and the middle east is 150 years behind America.

  4. Yes. Doesn't Aids and other sexual related diseases teach us anything.

  5. The problem is that the sexuality is only played out using feminine sexuality, men aren't portrayed this way... look at music videos for example.

The over-sexualization of the female body creates the idea that women are there to be looked at, and want to be looked at...which is not always the case!

It links women's identities with their bodies and sexuality, and represents no other characteristics of femininity.

  6. As a society, we continue to push deeper into the Pandora's Box of sexual depravity, demanding the "right" to have that which is abnormal and, if persued by all would lead to he extinction of mankind, called normal .  Strangely enough, our society is not the worst this world has seen but I believe it is on its way to surpassing the worst this world has ever seen.

Once you get to the point that we cannot have a moral standard governing our sexuality as a nation, we become people motivated by unrestrained lust.
