  1. The saying 'if it's allowed, it's no fun' seems to be appropriate here. The fact that it's legal allows much more opportunity for information and safety.

If you're allowed to smoke weed, it's not something you can boast about, nothing special, nothing to make you look 'cool'.

The whole legalizing it though, is something completely political. They don't legalize it, because it makes them way too much money.

And besides, the USA is definitely not ready for anything remotely unchristian in the first place. If they can't even accept two people of the same s*x falling in love and wanting to be married, I highly doubt they will find legalizing an intoxicating substance a good idea, any time soon.

  2. Actually it's not "legal"  here either, merely tolerated under given conditions

Statistics show that actually the consumption rates in e.g. teenagers in NL are lower than most countries in Western Europe.

However to be honest I do not see it being 'tolerated' or legal in the US in the near future.  Politics and attitudes are a lot more conservative than here in NL.  If the general public opinion is against it and more uptight, then it follows that the "powers that be"  will go with the general consensus (especially in the run up to an election!)

  3. Politics is your answer.

  4. You did most of the answering yourself.........No the country is NOT addicted (or it must be freedom of speech hihi). There are other cities in NL that have a higher crime rate. Compared to some exquivalent cities in UK or US you would see that A'dam has a lower crime rate. And the more liberal approach to softdrugs has hardly anything to do with it. It is the overal liberal way Dutch people stand in the world. And by the way not all softdrugs are legal nor is it legel to grow massive amounts of mariuana.
