Question:

Is Answers a good place to start new conspiracy theories?

For example:

If someone here started a rumor that John McCain had been brainwashed by the North Vietnamese, while he was a prisoner in the Hanoi Hilton (like in the Manchurian Candidate) and was really a sleeper agent who's job would be to bring down the US; would that rumor spread out from here?

  1. It is like the game of gossip.  Someone would twist it and pass it on till you wouldn't recognize it from original statement.  Look at Barak Obama.  What a mess.

  2. I'm pretty sure it would, though I already heard that rumor.  Did it start here?  I also heard that he and his wife were swingers during the 80's.

  3. Did the Democrats ask you to ask this question?

  5. I see you are taxing your brain extra hard today.

  6. That rumor has been around for a while and it has as much truth to it as the rumor about Obama being a closet Muslim.

  7. Well, if this place is as active as your inboxes, yes. I know several people that believe c**p like that because the email said... it's the internet. Some people will believe anything. Though it might not hit the news (like Obama on The Daily Show... i.e. Barackophobia) it can be talked about.

  8. Maybe on Youtube, visual evidence or nonevidence, is more effective, look at commercials during campaign season!! Ha!

  9. I think you'd need some more "evidence" before it really catches on.  Find an instance of him behaving strangely and use it as "proof."  Go around saying things like "Well if John McCain isn't brainwashed then why did he....<insert action here>  This certainly proves that he is going to bring down the US."  It doesn't even have to be anything true, but it helps if it is at least based on something that is somewhat true.  Oh, oh, I got one.

"If John McCain isn't brainwashed then why won't he release his phone records?  It must be because he's been making secret calls to the North Vietnamese that he has to hide.  Maybe even HE doesn't know why he made the calls, and doesn't remember making them, but he knows he has to hide them.  This is proof that he's going to bring down the US.  He must be stopped!"

See, I don't even know if he's ever refused to release phone records, but it sounds plausible.  Good luck!
