yea why wouldnt he... his toe might keep him limited in pratice but hes a big time player and will return to pro bowl form

yeah, he may not see much playing time in the PRE season, but as far as I know, he is still a Charger.

Yes, so long as he is over his injuries. Which I have a feeling he will be.

I dont see why he wouldnt be, i know he is injured and might not play the first week but i have never heard anything about him not being a charger

Gates is nursing his toe injury.    SD has a more than able backup in Brandon Manu .... (I can't spell his last name!!)

Yes, Gates will play.   But the surgery (in January) has limited the All Pro TE, he's at 70 per cent full strength.

In a statement to the San Diego media, Gates said, "My ultimate goal is I'm going to go that first game of the season.  (But) if I fell like I'm not the same (i.e. full strength), we'll decide what to do."

Gates ran 20 routes of varying types an hour before Saturday's preseason game (on artificial turf).  He ran full speed, cutting across the field, etc., and walked off the field WITHOUT a limp and less-than-usual discomfort.

"I'll tell you what," Gates told a SD reporter.  "It's starting to feel close to normal.  It still gets sore, but the difference is I can go out and do some things ...  I haven't hit a wall.  I feel more comfortable every time I go."

Gates may not play in the opening weeks, but it's how you finish that counts in this league.

yup hes coming off of a toe injury but he should be healed up by like the 4th or 5th week
