  1. god no Jake hands down was a better fighter than Antonio Margarito but different  weight class and we will never know people stop asking these questions about  guys of today vs guys of the past get over it the fights  will never take place unless someone's got a time machine people stop asking dumb *** questions and move on with the fighter we got today

  2. Different weights, different opponents, different rules, different eras, so as much as I Like Margarito, the answer is No! or at least not yet.

  3. The answer to your question is probably a resounding NO.  But WAIT!.

Many people tend to think of the old time fighters as "gods".  Some just think it because others TELL them this.  Others have a good point.  When you think of it,   another question you should ask,  that might answer your original question,  is,  Will Antonio Margarito EVER have to face the kind of opposition Jake had to?,   Will he fight as long as Jake or climb as many obiticals?    Certainly NO.

I will say that Margarito is probably as tough  AT WELTER as Jake was At MIDDLE.  If he moved up to 160 he certainly would not be as tough at that weight as Jake was.

Beyond those comparisons they are two very different fighters.  Margarito is a tall lanky fighter who can likely carry 160.  He can get away with things Jake couldn't.  Jake was a short armed in-fighter who dished it out BECAUSE he could take it.  That kind of style is the hardest and doesn't last very long in a boxing career.

Margarito took Cotto apart and went through Centron like a knife through hot butter.  However, he still has things to prove before we can begin any serious comparisons to Jake Lamotta.

  4. no!! Margo is an awesome boxer but its too early to say that..

  5. I've only seen highlights of LaMotta, so it's a tough question. Margarito is probably the more skilled fighter, but LaMotta did beat Sugar Ray Robinson. Boxing was different back then though. Guys fought every few months. Nowadays, fighters maybe have two fights a year if they are big money draws. The refs weren't as quick to stop fights back then either. LaMotta took a few terrible beatings in his career. He would have had a longer career in the modern era of boxing. If LaMotta was a modern era fighter, meaning he has trained as a modern era fighter, and was only fighting 2 or 3 times a year, I think he and Margarito would be equally successful in their respected weight classes for sure. Jake was a middleweight, so they would never had fought each other anyway. I'd say just flip a coin. LOL

  6. please no....please no!!!!! are you kidding me.
