EVERYONE is using them. I think each individual name is pretty but they are SO common now it seems. From browsing these questions I can't believe how many people have all suggested them. We are brainwashed by society!

  1. I don't think they are, and they are very beautiful names. Who cares if they are used a lot. Think how many Johns or Lindsays there are, and you are calling those overused? You did Ray twice by the way.  ( Not to be rude! )

    : )

  2. TELL ME ABOUT IT!!

don't foreget MARIE lynn kay leigh and jane.

Most of these names would make beautiful first names, they're just soooo overused as middle names!!

  3. I am. They're so filler and dull.

You also forgot Marie and Elizabeth.

  4. Jennifer m my name is jennifer too its so annoying! I am so sick of those names but I am sicker of lee, So many people with that middle name!

  5. I totally agree!!!!!  That's how I got stuck with being named "Jennifer"...the most popular name of the 1970's!!!!!  Thanks mom :)

  6. i do not think a names "commonness" or "popularity" matters i think if you (the parents) like the name that is all that matters..and i think it is stupid how people do not like or use names because this reason

  7. God, yes. I'm also sick of:

    Marie

    Elizabeth

    Ann

    Lynn

    Lee

    Joy

I mean, sure, they're nice enough names, and I don't really mind common names unless they're tacky (like Madison or Ashley). But May, Rae and so on are just getting boring.

They're just there because they sound good with everything, but if you hear those names used over & over, they don't sound good anymore.

Earlier this week, I did a survey on here, "What is your middle name?" just to see what came up. And GUESS WHAT??! 4 Marie's, 4 Ann's, 4 Lee's, 3 Nicole's, and 2 Joyce's. Bah.

  8. Not me, You forgot Marie

  9. I personally love the names Rae, Elizabeth, Grace, Lynn, and Marie. before you diss everyone else's thoughts and feelings.....consider them first!

  10. Yes, I agree w/ you 100%... I wish people could be a little more original.

EDIT: I think people are confused w/ your point.  Of course, people are entitled to use whatever name they like.. we're just saying that the names are overused.. they are filler names. Let the truth be spoken:)

  11. Nope--I think they are fine.  i'm sick of people trying too hard to pick an original name.  But for the most part, people can  do what they want and it doesn't matter what you or I or anyone else thinks.

  12. No. People can name their children what they want. Those may be family names to some people. Others may just adore them. Maybe people are tired of your name. Does that mean it shouldn't be yours? No. Your parents chose it because they loved it, as do everyone else's parents. Including people with the middle names May, Mae, Ray, Rae, Rose, or Grace. So no. That's stupid.

  13. Tired of Grace, MARIE, Rose, Elizabeth, and Lynn for middle names. I think they are all nice names, but seriously over done. James for a male middle name is also used way too much.

  14. Not especially.  Do you make a habit of asking people what their middle names are?

Our daughter's middle name is Rose, in honor of her deceased Great Grandmother.  About the only time the name is uttered is when she's in trouble.

  15. Sometimes people want a unique first name, but a more common middle name, so they use these popular ones.  But I know what you mean, I think it's more of a collective consciousness sorta thing, because as soon as I think up an original name, suddenly everyone else is thinking of it too.  I picked out "Elise" many years ago for a middle name, and no one ever heard of it other than "Fur Elise" - the song by Beethoven or Mozart(?)  Now it's everywhere!

And I mostly hate how once a name is overused, it's no longer as pretty.  (i.e., "Grace")

  16. Ehh, it really depends on what the first name is - I agree if the first name is very popular or 'boring' as well. However, if the first name is original and unique, I can be comfortable with Mae or Rose or whatever.

My name is kind of unique, but using kind of old fashioned names as well:

    Robyn Alexandra

So, I suppose you can find some good use out of those old plain boring names - But I do agree with you - I like unique names!!

I don't like popualr names spelt differently, like 'Mikayla' or 'Eryka', but I do like old timeless names that have been around that no one ever uses, such as 'Elodie' or 'Viridis' or 'Elora' or even something like Astrid.

But yes, I do agree with you!

  17. I don't hear those nearly as much as "Marie" or "Lynn" or "Leigh (Lee)"
