Is Applebee's food microwaved?

I heard from someone that claims that most of the food at Applebee's comes pre-prepared in bags and just gets warmed up. Is this true?

Wow, what a revelation. I didn't know that. I work in food service too, so I realize there is a price for convenience. I didn't know Applebee's microwaved most of their food. Ugh, it might make me reconsider going there!

Most things are microwaved like the steamed veggies, the sauces but the meat is grilled. It all still tastes good. I ran a restaurant very similar to Applebees and the guests would be so shocked if they found out that an ear of corn was nuked but that is the corporate way of cooking it.

Shells Seafood chain in Florida nukes nothing except a crab dip... they make their own salads, pasta sauce, fish toppings, etc. Any respectable food chain does not use microwave that much.

Why pay good money to hire chefs when you can hire slobs to nuke food.

yes, the majority of it is microwaved.  things like chicken, beef, and hamburgers will be grilled to order.  but pastas, veggies, and other things that are not deep fried or grilled will be microwaved.  Another item, the salamander, is used to melt cheese and give the nice golden brown color to the food.  Sort of like a broiler on steriods.

many fast food places like denny's, applebee's, perkins, ihop, chili's and etc. use many microwaves for the food prep.  It is common practice that this standard cooking methods for many chains.

This is true.  But then again, it's true for most casual dining chains (i.e. Red Lobster).  It's not like you should be expecting a fresh feast for $8.50 an entree.

it definitely tastes that way... i wouldn't be surprised if it were...

i hate applebee's... and people that like it have no idea what good food is.
