Is there a country that the ancient language of Aramaic is still a living spoken language till this day or a has it died away by now? I leaned from a source that Jesus' words were spoken in Aramaic not Hebrew.

I have seen several sources to learn the language because I want to learn the language.

  1. It hasn't completely died away...there's an endangered, modern form of it that, from what I've read, is spoken by Assyrians and Aramean-Syriac people. Not to mention it found it's way throughout the Middle East and such, therefore forming the basis of languages like Arabic and Hebrew. So variants of it still exist, I guess.

  2. the old testament books were written in aramaik  or aramaya words!halleluia is an aramaic word meaning praise jah! but in tagalog word     halleluia has counter part! it could written as ihalal siya! literally means elect or raise Him! i believe aramaic words are scattered all over asia and even in some european languages.
