I have a holiday booked there for this summer, and I'm staying in 'Arroyo de la Miel' and I just wondered was it far out of the way from the 'center' of Benalmadena, like all the restaurants, the beach etc? If so, how far? Taxi, walking?

Many Thanks

  1. arroyo is more like we class as the town there is plenty to do .benalmadena costa is more the touristy area although arroyo has plenty tourists also.benalmadena village which is the old town is further away .you can walk from arroyo to benalmadena costa no problem.the bars and cafes in bonanza square would prob be the closest place to where you are staying. where are you staying in arroyo.its all beautiful no matter where you go in that area and you will find plenty to do.enjoy your hols

  2. This is a tricky question...........

I live in Arroyo, the whole area is known as Benalmadena, there is the general name Benalmadena, then Benalmadena Costa (naturally this is all the sea front/beach area, including Castillo Bil-Bil), then there is Benalmadena Pueblo, a few miles up the road from Arroyo, which has wonderful views of the coast right along to Fuengirola, a very impressive Gold Buddha temple, bullring, etc., etc.,

There is a bus service from the centre of Arroyo which takes you up past Tivoli world amusement park into the Benalmadena Pueblo, Arroyo has loads and loads of bars, serving some of the best tapas on the costa, many good restaurants, english/italian/indian/chinese along naturally with the spanish, the big market is on Fridays in the Tivoli world carpark, which is excellent.

Tuesday is market day in Fuengirola, you can travel to Fuengirola by train also in the other direction get the train to Malaga.  In Malaga there is a big feria which takes place around the 2nd week of August, very tiring but worth a visit if you have never been before.

When in Arroyo, to head for the beach just keep walking downhill, you will soon hit the beach.

Today the temp is 37 degs+, not a cloud in the sky,

Diesel is 1.28 euros a litre,  if you are renting a car.

hope this helps, have a lovely trip to my town, I have been here for 26 years..................
