You can see yesterday with just four injuries, they were forced to field very average reserve players. Arsenal had six first team players injured and still managed to field a very strong team that performed well.

Therefore we must conclude that this myth about lack of depth in fact also applies to Manchester United who will sufeer if their players get injured for long periods of time.

Stats say that Denilson is much better than Anderson.

Last season Denilson had 2 goals and 3 Assists. Anderson had nothing.

Denilson already has one assist this season and he is a year younger than Anderson

  1. let me rephrase what you just said

if we had no depth in our team ,how come were we at the top of the league for almost the whole duration of the premiership last season?

arsenal can do without some of their players more than man.utd can without players like nani, tevez and ronaldo when playing weak teams but when it comes to facing harder opponents man.utd and arsenal will definitely need those players on the field

  2. i agree with you 110% mate.

denilson is better than anderson, anderson is just alot stronger, denilson's fision is fat better than andersons, and denilson can score goals .

dont worry mate, just laugh,,next people will be saying park is better than nasri HAHA

  3. Tend Bundy was a patholigical liar also blinded by his own narcassistic hatred of the truth....whats your excuse?

  4. The truoble Man U is in: THAT has depth.  Everything else about them is shallow.  Very shallow, including their supporters.

  5. Clerly you hav issues wit man utd itself and arent realy woried about the depth it has,,,y don u leave us alone and concentrate on puling ur arsenal adolescents outa puberty...

  6. I am an Arsenal supporter and I have to disagree with you here. We all saw what happened last season at the final stretch when key players got injured at Arsenal.

And about Denilson being better than Anderson. dream on. Anderson is a lot lot better than Denilson in all department.

I just hope wenger buys some experienced head before the summer window closes. Dont want to see arsenal go trophy less again. Should have bought David Villa and sold that togo t**t. with all the chances Arsenal creates, Villa would score atleast 40 goals.

  7. yes denilson is better than anderson! but i dunt think we shud judge based on the first game! give it more time n then we'll see! i do think arsenal have depth though!

  8. be serious mate,

if denilson is 'much better' than anderson, then mongolia is topping the olympic medal table.

Arsenal are just not as good as the other top 3. Within 3 seasons, arsenal will be competing with spurs and newcastle for that 5th place UEFA cup spot.

also, if u consider beating West brom 1-0 on the opening day as a strong performance then u no nothing about football.

don't blame injuries, everyone had them, Chelsea missing Drogba & Belleti. Man U missing gaynaldo and tevez.

  9. Stats don't say everything about a player now do they? I'm sure Cesc Fabregas will back me up on this one when Anderson made him look like a Sunday League footballer last February.

Okay, sure say we don't have depth if that makes you feel better... It was sure enough depth to win the Double last season, while Arsenal ended up trophy less yet again

  10. Woohoo, Arsenal played a newly promoted side with less first teamers missing than United and won while United played with 3 of first team midfielders missing, one striker missing, having to field a striker who's just returning from injury + another one who's last competitive game was with a Championship side whilst playing an established EPL team and drew....You're right, Arsenal must be waaay ahead of us in squad depth, congrats I'm sure it makes you feel better almost your "almost there" season which you had last year and will have again this year. Hope this helps you sleep at night.

  11. hargreaves, anderson, nani, ronaldo, tevez, saha, park is 7 first team regulars who were absent, and the like of giggs and carrick going off injured i personally was happy with a draw, but as has been said before its early days.

  12. Ok lets examine the question, Arsenal have no real depth at any position, this is a fact. You say that United have no depth either because they had 4 injuries. But you're forgetting the other players who weren't there because of other reasons. Here's a basic list of players who didn't play.  Hargreaves, Ronaldo, Park(who is a good player). Anderson is at the Olympics, Saha is always injured. Nani is suspended. Tevez was home because of a family issue. So you cant compare the magnitude of United missing players to Arsenal's. United was missing 3-4 of their best players, But While United we're missing those players they still had capable players to fill the role. If Another side lost those types of players they would of lost. Take away Fabregas, Adebayor, Van Persie, Walcott, and Rosicky at one time Arsenal look like a Pub team. And Comparing Denilson's stats to Anderson's stats last year. is kinda out there. Anderson is stuck behind Carrick, Giggs, Scholes, Hargreaves, Ronaldo. So he doesn't have the opportunity at the time so showcase his skills.

Oh and look at who United played and who Arsenal player. United played Newcastle who is a Premier league side, who can show flashes of Brilliance, while Arsenal played West Brom who is a newly Promoted side. I'm not saying you're opinion is wrong, I'm just arguing the other side of the point here.

  13. Yes Denilson is better than Anderson, and that is the only thing i agree with what you said im afraid.

Ok both teams had injuries, unfortunate, as it was the first game of the season but, no doubt this will happen again during the season, and be honest Arsenal DIDNT play very good on Saturday.

Allowing for being the first game, lack of experience for some, many experienced players being injured and the new players to the 1st team squad having to still get used to gelling together, but a win is a win, and thats what happened and thats what im pleased about, so a lack of depth? No.

Lets hope the rest of the season is better for both teams, especialy Arsenal! ;-)
