  1. No don't worry about it! It's going to be great, all the kiddies will be in school!

  2. August and September is the middle of the hurricane season for the Caribbean, including Bermuda.  No its not necessarily a bad time.  For example, this year thus far there has hardly been a tropical storm or hurricane in the Caribbean.  But you don't know what the hurricane season will be like next year.  If you book a Caribbean cruise for next year you have until 90 days before the cruise to cancel and get a  full refund.  Or, you can keep it and just buy travel insurance to cover you if a hurricane does mess up your plans.  Or, consider a different cruise, like a New England Canada cruise out of NY or Boston, and Alaska cruise, or a cruise to Mexico out of LA or San Diego.

Great deals can be had on the cruise line web sites.  You just have to shop around and positively book early, like 6 to 9 months ahead.

  3. Hurricane season affect rates greatly.  There have been many stories of how storms have chased ships around the oceans without letting them even dock sometimes.  Its a very risky time of year, but it might pay off.....even if the deals are great just ask yourself if it would be worth X amount of dollars if the itinerary was changed dramatically with no notice.  Also, when school starts (late august first week in september) prices drop dramitically also, but still the riskiest time of the year for hurricanes.

august and september is the BEST time to go on a cruise despite the hurricane season....the cruises are not as crowded because the kids are back in school....i have experienced a cruise where we were supposed to go to nassau(castawat key, disney's private island) but there was hurricane frances, so we ended up going to cozumel mexico....my point is that if a hurricane gets in the way, the cruise will still go on, just in a different place....good luck and have a GREAT time!!! = ]

  5. Maybe because it's hurricane season?  :)

  6. Get the best deal you can and get the insurance. Usually the worst is that you might be out to sea an extra day to avoid a hurricane. Cruise ships can travel faster than a storm and always avoid them.

  7. I assume that you are referring to the Caribbean.  August and September is the middle of hurricane season in the Caribbean.  However, since cruise ships move, they can avoid the hurricanes.  Lets see a land based hotel move out of the way of a hurricane.

Basically, if a hurricane is headed to the same place your ship planned to go, your ship will go somewhere else.  If the ship was planning on a western Caribbean itinerary and a hurricane is headed to the western Caribbean, then your ship will go to the eastern Caribbean.  You will still have fun, just not at the same ports you originally planned to go to.  Hurricanes can also occur in the Pacific, along what is known as the Mexican Riviera and Hawaii.  However, hurricanes in the Pacific are not as common as hurricanes in the Caribbean.

If you are talking about taking a cruise to anywhere other than the Caribbean, then August and September are just as good as another month to go on a cruise.

  8. just a bit. its hurricane season but it doesnt really matter because i took two cruises at the end of august and both times i never had any issues. plus, if a hurricane does occur, the cruise will change courses and its intinerary if it does. plus, if you end up having to stay an extra day on the ship b/c of it, then you usally get money or a gift or something.

plus its just that summer vacation for children ends in september so the deals in september and end of august are really cheap.

  9. you can take a cruise to Hawaii during Aug/Sept since the weather there is very gorgeous and not hurricane season.
