The Australian school year goes from very late January or early February to early December.

The big summer break is known as the Christmas holidays and nearly 2 months long.

Each state of Australia sets their own school term and holiday dates - which can be very confusing when travelling interstate. Tasmania has 3 terms per year. All others states have 4 terms (2 semesters) per year.
