  1. You can't generalise by saying an entire country is racist - Australia has problems same as anywhere else.

The main issues for Aboriginal people in recent years is alcoholism which specially formed groups are trying to help with.  There are also numerous campaigns working for Aboriginal Sovereignty and raising awareness of the poor treatment of Aboriginal people in the past.

  2. At our assembalies they start it off, "we understand that the wongatha and other Abrinal tribe were the original custodians of the land...".I don't see that as raciest but there are some abriginals that get there pension and drink/smoke it away while others try and get a proper schooling and try to fit in but people don't welcome them.

Some of us are raciest while others aren't. and its the natine here that don't treat us well in my town about 75% of breakins are the natives.and were i live they don't have any lebenese so i don't know.

  3. Like all countries, we have some racists, but Australians generally are very fair and accepting of people of all races. We also have very strict anti-racist and anti-discrimination laws.

  4. YES

  5. No we just have the same kinda problems all countries have.

  6. Australia is NOT a racist country.

the riot is only ONE incident that happened in ONE small location out of the whole country and which is fuelled by alcohol. That incident was NOT about racism. It was about a few people NOT happy about certain Lebanese youth behaviour on the beach.

If Australia is a racist country and such a bad place, why would so many people want to come here?

We have people from many many countries live here and we all get along fine.

Racism is in every country and there will be those who makes it look bad for everyone else.  I think racism is worse in the USA than here.

    Cheese to you.

    (I live in  Australia)

  7. No. We're not a racist country.

We are just like every single country - there are always bad eggs in the basket, isn't there?

  8. ...and going by the little t**t jen, who happily owns her racist attitude, there is certainly an element of ignorant racists in australia.  although most of them hide behind computers or whinge together in dingy bars.

  9. No its not a racist country. Dont say that all of australia is racist. Its just a bunch of people that are.

the prime minister said sorry to the natives..

The riots a few years ago were caused by stupidity & racism.

Funny how people see things on the news and consider Australians to be racist. But everybody is a little bit racist sometimes.

  10. ok.. so here is my view. i kno people will critisise me. but i dont really care because i am enitiled to my opinions

yes.. i am racisit. i dont think that australia is generally a racist country, but there r those that r.

i cant stand aboriginals, i mean yes.. there r ones who dont bother me, its just that many of them dont bother to assimilate. i mean.. its been years since the brits colonised australia. the romans took over many countries... just like the portugese did. so what the difference there.. it is now owned by the british really, untill we become a republic.. if we ever do.  just because there great great grandparents lost their fight to the british doesnt give them the right to bludge off the government benifit. they get centrelink payments for no reason, while i am here slaving away to get money. and they centrelink) wont pay me anything because my parents earn too much (but that doesnt mean that they give me any money). they get their eduction for free, isnt that being racist in the first place, i mean.. racisim doesnt have to work negitivly, but it still is racist giving them free education cos of the race. they get into university easier, while we have to study study study! ITS JUST NOT FAIR!!!

and then there r all the muslims who bring there culture over and think that they can get away with their rules.. i mean come on.. clearly they have moved over here because they thort it was better! they were there turbins n all that.. have they ever though that others might be offended by that???

n then there is the fact they half of them dont bother to learn english!!!!!! i mean good on those who do n try to fit in as much as possible!  but those who dont.. clearly u dont belong here.

and then there r all the asian.. ok.. fair enuff australia has greater opportunities than back in their countries.. but do the shops have to be written in asian writting where us AUSSIES cant understand the writting.

i really do have stong points as to why i am racisit. but its not so much as i am racist to the whole race, just those who dont bother to change.

i we were to go over to dubai.. we have to obide by their rules and customs otherwise we can end up i jail.... what the differnce here?

  11. Yes it's true the Aboriginals have been treated badly since the invasion of their land over 200 hundred years ago. Recently our new Prime Minister Kevin Rudd formerly apologized to the Aborigines, he is the first person of authority to do so.

As for the Riots you speak of that was certainly racist and is not the norm.

On the whole we mostly respect the cultures of others but there will always be racism as there is anywhere in the world.

I'm a 6th generation Australian and consider this country to belong to the Aboriginies first and foremost.
