Question:

Is BAH (housing allowance) used to calculate gross income for Amry families applying for WIC? ?

I don't think that it should, since BAH would not show up on hubby's paycheck if we lived in base housing. How is gross income calculated for military families that are applying for WIC?

  1. BAH is still income reguardless. If you live off post, you see it, so you can pay your rent...when you live on post, they take it out before you see it...but technically you are still paying rent with it. It wouldnt show up on his actual paycheck...but what WIC needs to verify income is their LES...and BAH shows up on an LES.  *reguardless of living on base or off*

BUT, check your state laws...because when we lived in GA, every pregnant woman reguardless of income, automatically qualifies for WIC. Before the baby is born and after. BUT, now that we're in WA, we dont qualify..so def check with the state you're in.
