Baalbeck its ancient city and also a world heritage mark. I have seen many gorgeous photos of it.

But is Baalbeck a popular or nice place to visit in general for both Lebanese and tourists?

Also is it a conservative or a religously observant town in general?

are there any extra precaution I must take before or if I vist e.g type modest clothing, etc

Is it true its the headquarters for Hezbollah?

  1. YES......is a very recommended place for visiting.

Your visit to Lebanon wouldnt be complete, if you dont go to Baalbeck. You'll like it very much..

Is very safe, calm and you havent to enter in the new city of Baalbeck to go to the ruins.

Although you enter and visit the new city......it should be very safe. Pple is normal and as everywhere in Lebanon, so nice and kind.

  2. Of course. It's Lebanon's most important tourist site,

the best preserved Roman temple outside Rome.

It also hosts an international festival.

You can dress the way you like. All areas in Lebanon are tolerant and relaxed.

    Hezbollah never target tourists.

  3. Baalbeck is a great place to visit if you are interested in history and ancient monuments : http://www.baalbeck.org.lb/

they organize a festival every year and it is one of the most visited touristic sites in  Lebanon

Don't be afraid of Hezbollah they isn't as dangerous as you think !! they won't kidnap you !!

it isn't the headquarter for Hezbollah (this is in the Dahieh!)

    come and enjoy

    welcome

+ Lebanese are open minded people (except some villagers off course as the case of every country) so come as you are

  4. Sure it is and you'll enjoy the view of the Temple of Jupiter and other places in that city. so I recommend you visit that place.

And don't worry Lebanon is not Iraq...so tourists are not a target in Lebanon so your welcome anytime :)

EDIT: Check out this page for more information about Baalbek

  5. yh its historic apparently

  6. this is a perfect place i ever seen,

lebanon is abutiefull place but its so far.

  7. Baalbeck is a must see !   An amazing place , especially if you are aware of its' history !

We were there in April  & there were few people around at that time of year so we had the place to ourselves ....

You don't have to go into the actual town to visit the temple so don't be concerned about the the religious or political stuff ....just enjoy.

On the way it's worth stopping at the ancient Roman town of Anjar...it's close to the highway & well worth the visit.
