A city, a garden city, a modern city, a rich city, a city of culture, an excessively wicked city, an evil city, a spiritually bereft center of power, an empire built upon the subjugation of people, or the United States of America—the definitions of Babylon have multiplied for centuries.

  1. One definition has stayed the same and that is religious domination and Babylon are synonymous.  I don't think the U.S. has cornered that market.

  2. Babylon was clearly a hugely cultured and sophisticated city, far more successful than the contemporary Jews and far more educated. Hence the Jews of the day were hopelessly jealous. Hence the Bible hatred. Pathetic, isn't it.

By the way, Judea never produce an even second rate wonder of the world - way to go Babylon.
