I've recently discovered that i need glasses and i have my heart set on being a pilot in the aviation industry. I've seen pilots with glasses but is there a limit for how bad your eyes can be? Any advice or answers would be much appreciated.

Thanks!!

  1. i dont know.

  2. Well, there's no exact answer.

In Australia, which has similar rules to the US, pilots can wear glasses for most conditions as long as your vision can be corrected to near normal.

In the military, it is slightly different. They are more fussy and usually will not recruit you if you need vision correction, but if your eyesight goes bad after you've been recruited, they'll happily provide their pilots with glasses/vision correction. Don't want all that expensive training to go to waste!

So there are limits, but it's not necessarily going to prevent you becoming a pilot. Check with your local aviation authorities for more info.

  3. I've heard that pilots can wear glasses as long as their vision problems are mild. That means they can function without their glasses but would see a bit better if they had them on.

  4. No it's o.k.

U don't need glasses 2 B A pilot just go fly a plane half way blind no one will notice till U become tha next 9/11.

  5. I think some pilots suffer from bad eyesight (far-sighted) because of looking FAR in the sky. so if your eyes are quite far-sighted it's okay.

  6. i think it is a problem. bad eyesight makes things blurr and it is dangerous when u r driving a plane. think of the ppl's safety. the passengers really trust their pilot to let them drive.
