Is Barack Obama in favor of gun control ?

Barack Obama talks a good game during his speeches, and he has a good track record in the senate . There have been a few rumors going around about him . I heard he's in favor of gun control . Is this true, or is this another rumor going around about him ? I'm all for somebody owning a gun if he uses it responsbly . What can a president who's in favor of gun control do in light of the second amendment ?

Obama has faltered on this issue.  He claimed during the early primaries to be against gun ownership.  After he became the presumed Democratic candidate, he expressed his support for the 2nd Admendment and then side-stepped the issue by claiming he is for gun ownership but only under heavy government regulations.  It's hard to say what he really believes or what he would do.

He already has stated on numerous occasion that we have more than enough gun laws, and we need to start cracking down on irresponsible, illegal use of guns.

So yes, he supports gun control, as anyone on their right mind does. However, he does not support gun ban, as right-wingers like to claim gun control is.

You had better believe it. The question is, just how far can he take it? Why should millions of responsible, law abiding Americans give up their Second Amendment rights because of some goof ball politician or the criminals acts of some nut case? Not me! No way on God's green Earth.

the 2nd amendment has always lacked specific clarifications and opened to interpretation over the years having confusion over having "Well regulated militia" and "People" in the same sentence.

It does not specifically say everyone is allowed arms and neither does it say only the law is allowed to have arms...

And now to address your opinion of "I'm all for somebody owning a gun if he uses it responsbly" with the key word being "Responsible"

How do you gauge whether a person is "responsible". Is the regulations in placed presently good enough to warrant the "responsibility" of owning an arm? Because from what I have seen, doesnt seem like it.

Yes, he is in favor of gun control. He has once supported a bill to reduce the amount a guns a person could buy to 1 purchase per month.  He and the Supreme Court in their recent ruling agrees that the 2nd amendment does give citizens the 'right to bear' arms, but local governments reserves the right to regulate who, when and how these weapons can be purchased, maintained, and used.

Obama is very very sly.  He plans on taking citizens guns AWAY through his Global Poverty Bill.  IT"S ALL IN THERE.  Go read for yourselves.

Obama is an all out lier in my opinion.  What he actually says, and the bills he tries to PUSH UPON US are two completely different things.

Without gun control, people like me, wouldn't be able to acquire enough evidence to place a murderer at the scene of a crime. Our entire country would look like the wild west with people randomly shooting people that looked at them funny, and nobody able to do anything about it, other than shoot back, unless an eye witness was present so there would be enough evidence to charge a person for a crime.

Gun control is not gun ban. Things like serial numbers, registration and other things that help forensic scientists attach a crime to a perp are gun control measures, not gun ban. If they are gun ban, I guess the same things on automobiles are car bans huh? sometimes I wonder if right-wingers have any capacity at all for logic and reason. It appears right-wingers don't have a clue what the global povery bill is. They sound about as bad as the 9/11 conspiracy theorists, talking about it being used to take away the 2nd amendment.

What is responsible gun use? Using it for self defense or hunting animals during their hunting seasons...not hunting humans at grocery stores and shopping malls. Not using them to rob banks and shootat police becase you have a million dollars worth of cocain in your trunk.

It is pretty easy for rational people to figure out what "responsible us of a firearm is". If a person doesn't understand what responsible use of a firearm is, they probably shouldn't own one. Or at the very least should be required to take a class sponsored by their local sportsmen's club that teaches saftey and responsibe handling, so they can learn what it means.

Sometimes, I wonder if right-wingers don't just want to make it impossible for law enforcment to catch criminals by removing all gun controls, so they can use guns to solve all their problems since they are too weak-minded to utilize rational methods of dealing with their problems.

Regulations regarding gun ownership are not inconsistent with the second amendment.

Good track record?  He's voted present more than yes or no.

He has proven he is against the 2nd amendment and legal gun ownership.

He will destroy the Constitution.
