  1. I were there  2 weeks ago and there were a looooot of tourists. A lot

  2. Barcelona is heavily reliant on tourism. It is Spain's 2nd biggest city. The airport is a Spanish hub for international flights. The other hub being Madrid, though a third hub is being built in Málaga.

Barcelona is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, but don't drive there. The traffic is a nightmare.

  3. YES, A LOT!!!!

  4. You're going to be joining a glut of tourism-related businesses in Barcelona (and Spain, for that matter) so you should be aware that competition is fierce and our piece of the pie shrinks greatly every year.

But to answer your question, yes, tourism is king in Barcelona and Madrid - but probably slightly less so this year and last year due to the rising price in petroleum, the rising price of airfares, and the very poor exchange rate from the USDollar to the Euro.

    Best of luck!

  5. Yeah.  Tourists in Barcelona.  Big city, on the border.  Most people, if they see nothing else of Spain, that is likely to be the only destination they reach.  (probably more than any other single place in Spain, including the islands with their party atmosphere).

Also, a major city with lots of other business.

I would suggest a couple of things.  First of all, research the possibility of emigrating.  Know the rules, the red tape, you need to have all sorts of fun papers together to move.  You need a residence and work visa (I think you need them both).  You need to know how their insurance works, etc.  If you are American, you have more paperwork than if you are a citizen of an EU country...they don't have the work visa thing, at least.

Another thing...You should at least have a passing familiarity with any city before you decide to move there.  Go and visit, spend a week or more, get a feel for the city.  It could be the coolest place you have ever been, or you might find the whole feel of the city uncomfortable!  I wouldn't want to just pick up and move to someplace without having an idea how I felt there!

  6. we were there on a cruise  and yes  it  is full of tourists  and I believe there will be more ships sailing there to give you business.....
