Is Barrack Obama a hypocrite?

Barrack Obama who is in the pocketbook of extreme environmentalists owns a car which does not come close to getting the MPG of a Toyota Prius. Does the fact he owns a Ford Escape hybrid instead a much more environmentally friendly Toyota Prius make him a hypocrite?

They said so many good things about Obama in the Dem Convention, but just a couple of months ago they said the complete opposite about Obama.

no it dosen't and I am not even a Obama supporter.  Now if he were driving a Hummer maybe but jeez nitpicking an Escape Hybrid compared to a Prius.

Seriously? This is just sad. "This hybrid is totally better than HIS hybrid!" Wow, the sad sad things people will come up with. It's just depressing. I'm all for the environment, reducing pollution, and lowering gas usage... But there comes a point, honestly now.

The Ford Escape Hybrid is the most fuel efficient SUV on the market, tied with its sister vehicles the Mercury Mariner Hybrid and the Mazda Tribute Hybrid at 34mpg city/30mpg highway.  That's better fuel economy than most cars!  It also meets SULEV emissions.

The hybrid drivetrain is so similar to that of Toyota's THS (seen in the US 2001-2003 NHW11 model Prius), that Ford is licensing some of the hybrid system drivetrain from Toyota for patent reasons.

The Ford Escape Hybrid was the first hybrid SUV available, and also the first hybrid built in the US, and built by an "American" company.  

A politician is damned if he does and damned if he does not drive a Toyota Prius.  If they drive a Toyota Prius, they're lauded for driving the most fuel-efficient vehicle available in the US at the moment at 48mpg city/45mpg highway (and also SULEV) http://www.fueleconomy.gov/f*g/best/best... , but then blamed for not buying an "American" car and supporting US workers.

As seen by this question, if a politician then buys the most fuel-efficient US-made vehicle by an "American" manufacturer, then they're blamed for not buying a more fuel-efficient Toyota Prius instead...

(BTW: a Toyota Camry hybrid has better fuel efficiency than the FEH, at 33mpg city/34mpg highway, and is built at the Georgetown, Kentucky USA plant...  but because of the Toyota brand, most people just assume that it is a Japanese car when it is not...)
