I have been playing guitar for about 4 years now, and I thought I'd have a dabble at the bass. I ordered a Stagg bass guitar which was fairly cheap, but I know Stagg are a fairly well known make, but still cheap.

However I have learned my lesson from cheap amps. The one I have for my guitar is awful. So is Behringer a good make????, as my budget is about £50 for the amp.

(This is my first bass, so I didn't go too expensive incase i play it once, then it gathers dust in the corner).

  1. behringer is an awesome brand for bass amps.  no pros use them because theyre not exactly pro quality, but for beginners i wouldn't recomend any other brand.  I got my first bass amp, a 120 watt behringer that had pretty d**n good sound, for just $200 american.  I bout a Fender TBP-1 with a custom made fender tube power amp (i'm endorsed by fender) for big gigs, but I still use the behringer for smaller gigs.  Other good beginner brands are Gallien Kreuger and SWR.  Some horrible begginner bass brands are Crate, Line 6, Fender...well fender bass amps actually sound really good but they are way overpriced.  And i'm a fender endorsee, so i can tell you, fender marks up their bass amps a little bit.  Not alot, but they also use alot of expensive materials that quite frankly don't change the sound that much.  So yeah, I recomend Behringer way alot.

by the way, stagg isn't a very good company.  It doesn't suck, and it's not a rip off, it's just not very good.  Fender and Schecter would be my recomendations for a good deal and quality in the future

  2. I have a behringer amp. It's decent. I like Marshall amps but I don't know how cheap they are. Anyway, remember. DO NOT PLAY YOUR BASS OUT OF A GUITAR AMP. You'll trash the amp. You can play a guitar out of a bass amp but not the other way around.
