  1. Yes, it can be. English, as you know is the official language.

Avoid buying on-line.   They have been hit by several large hurricanes," Mitch" I believe killed some 3000 people many years ago and have had several near misses. If you come during the U.S.winter and return in spring.

Very nice place with a relatively low crime rate.

  2. Id say yes. Beautiful places and nice people.

  3. oh yes it is. many people from USA are recently moving to Belize to retire. it is because of the peacefulness and it is not chaotic. if u are planning to retire in belize i would say that the Cayo district is the best place to retire because they have mountains and plenaty of nature. they are inland have have beatuiful water which is claer and marvelous. cayo district is the my favoriat place and there is where more people settle. in corozal district is the same. it is cheaper and one of the quitest towns. teh beach is great, and no it is not crowded like miami beach. take ur hammock and tie it between trees and relax. it is close to any house. corozal is across the border of mexico and u can cross over to buy or just relax.

in orange walk it is the same but it is hotter and there is no beaches there. they have a lagoon which is like 30 minutes and come are private and some are open. it is really nice but the road to go there is rough. i have two families coming to retire from new york and L.A., they are coming here in orange walk town becuase they have family in this town. they already are soing their houses and they are shocked at how much the price it is to build one...(half the price of their car! very cheap!!)

i would tell u if u want to retire do not live in the belize CITY. no it is bad there and the whole scene is itmitating. punta gorda is beautiful and peaceful but this is one of the poorest town, and there is not developed like the other towns. u will find it hard in punta gorda becuase everything is more expensive.

in the cayes u would like it if u like the crowd. like toursit and shopping. the cayes are far more expensive than any other town.

to answer ur question, yes belize is a great place to move and retire.
