Question:

Is Best Buy scamming me?

I got an HP Pavilion dv6604nr laptop for christmas. Earlier this month, the 160GB hard drive failed. My mom took it to Best Buy to get the hard drive replaced. It came back today. The box the new hard drive came in says 320GB, but when I go to My Computer, it reads as only 32GB. What is happening here?

Also, I went into My Documents and found an empty folder with this name: "³Ø½¼ Ç÷¯±×"

I deleted the folder, but was that a bad idea? What was that folder for?

  1. Probably just a Vista error. They actually gave you a huge hard drive. Simply try partitioning your hard drive. That should do the trick.

  2. I would take it back to best buy and ask them about it. I'd have them fix it.

  3. 32GB is the limit under whatever installation software they were using. Your best bet would be to completely reinstall the OS your self, if you know how. Otherwise take it back with your install disk. IF! Your system came without disks it was up to you to create them. In which case you would have to get replacement disks.

  4. right click mycomputer and click manage click storage and disk management at the bottom the hardrive and any other memory plugged in at the moment will appear and on the left it should say the total size if its close to or 160 this is normal but if its over 15gb under your getting robbed if it over you just got lucky

  5. I would call and talk to a reprsenative. I have never heard of a folder with that name.

  6. to partition the drive you need a vista or XP disc and a the correct, but if you got it from best buy it should have warrenty so just take it back and get a new one again lolz
