She certainly is playing alot better. She's shaped up her game and is making it far into tournaments. Look what she did in Wimbledon and LA. Is she going to make it w/ the top players?

  1. well, alot of her current success is in part due to her newfound commitment to her fitness. and also less the frivolity-i.e. her garb. she's really focusing on her game.

as for getting into the mix with the top players,i dunno....i still question her consistency in matches. as with the match she lost to flavia panetta last saturday in l.a. she had alot of opportunities to take it in the third and she just gave alot of free points away. if she's able to continue improving on that aspect,i think we could see a new american talent grace the top echelons. but we shall see. but i do commend her on the improvements she has made and her commitment to let her racquet do the talking from now on,as she says.

  2. she's on the rise but i don't think i'd consider her an elite player by any means.

  3. I don't know. she hasn't even won a title yet. I think she will be one of those players who will always get to the third and fourth rounds, maybe a run to the semi's or finals every now and then but I don't she will break into the top 10. Top 20 maybe.

  4. Ya, she is doing amazing these days. I believe she has the potential to be a top 10 player if she gets her game together and continues to progress.

  5. She's doing well right now. But she will never be a top player. I'd be surprised if she makes the top20 someday.

  6. Yep I think she is. She had a good Wimbledon and has since followed it up with some good showings. If Jelena Jankovic is in with a chance of no.1 Why not Mattek. Womens tennis is very poor at the moment-Success is for the player who takes there chances at the moment.

I think Mattek will have her time in the top 10 but will play the majority of her career at 16-30 in the world.
