Hi, I have another brainer here. Ha. I am wanting to create my own personal blog. Is it better than having a website? And, is it cheaper to maintain a blog? And, Can I make money from my blog?

Thanks,

  1. Hi Kaloni

Your blog is your website. I recommend you get your own domain name (i.e. yoursite.com) because then you can brand it and it may be worth a lot to you and others later.

You can get your own blog and website for under 100 a year - and yes, you can make money on your blog.

However, don't expect to make money overnight. It takes time and effort to build a blog readership - most people give up on their blog after 1-3 months.

My suggestion is to write a blog that is actually helpful to others, and not just an online "journal".

Write quality posts, ideally 3 times a week, and promote it a little bit every day. Build it up into a blog that others will WANT to read.

You will then be able to sell advertising through networks such as AdSense, and when it gets big enough, you can even sell advertising space to others independently.

If you ever get bored with it... IF you've got your own domain name, and got a decent sized readership, you could always sell it off! There's plenty of people who are looking to buy QUALITY blogs.

Hope that helped! See my blog for more info about whether you should be blogging or not.
