One is 10 years old and she is 10 pounds

One is around 6 or 7 years old and she is obese at 15 pounds

One is around 2 or 3 and he is 10 pounds.

Would the other too lose much weigh (I don't want them too they are at a healthy weight) And would the fat one lose any weight?

Here is the anaylyis on it

Crude Protein (min.) 28.0%

Crude Fat (min.) 9.0%

Crude Fiber (max.) 8.5%

Moisture (max.) 10.0%

  1. yea you can give the obese one less and give the other two a little more and keep an eye on their weight.  or you could go to the indoor formula and that will still help your obese cat slim down too.  you can ask someone at the pet store what they think, sometimes at our petsmart there is someone there from blue spa that can answer your questions.

  2. They can all eat the same foods but canned with little or no grains would be best There is too much fiber in there for a carnivore

Nutrition since there are so many bad things out there is very important to your cat’s health

Contrary to what you may have heard; dry foods are not a great thing to feed a cat.

Please read the label on what you are feeding? What are the ingredients? Do you know what they mean? Is the first ingrediant a muscle meat like chicken or meal or other things?

Dry foods are the number 1 cause of diabetes in cats as well as being a huge contributing factor to kidney disease, obesity, crystals, u.t.i’s and a host of other problems. Food allergies are very common when feeding dry foods. Rashes, scabs behind the tail and on the chin are all symptoms

The problems associated with Dry food is that they are loaded with grains and carbohydrates which many cats (carnivores) cannot process.  Also, Most of the moisture a cat needs is suppose to be in the food but in

Dry, 95% of it is zapped out of dry foods in the processing. Another thing, most use horrible ingredients and don't use a muscle meat as the primary ingredient and use vegetable based protein versus animal. Not good for an animal that has to eat meat to survive.

You want to pick a canned food w/o gravy (gravy=carbs) that uses a muscle meat as the first ingredient and doesn't have corn at least in the first 3 ingredients if at all.    The best food for cats does not contain any grains at all.

Fancy feast is a middle grade food with 9lives, friskies  whiskas lower grade canned and wellness and merrick upper grade human quality foods. I would rather feed a middle grade canned food then the top of the line dry food.

Also, dry food is not proven to be better for teeth. Does a hard pretzel clean your teeth or do pieces of it get stuck? http://www.felinefuture.com/nutrition/bp...

    Please read about cat nutrition.

Vetinarian diets  The reason your vet thinks so highly of the pet food they sell probably has more to do with money than nutrition. In vet school, the only classes offered on nutrition usually last a few weeks, and are taught by representatives from the pet food companies. Vet students may also receive free food for their own dogs and cats at home. They could get an Iams notebook, a Purina purse and some free pizza.  http://iml.jou.ufl.edu/projects/Spring04...

  3. I wouldn't.  But not because of their varying ages - because "diet" cat food isn't suitable for any cat to eat.  (I reviewed the ingredients of this food and honestly, I've seen worse.  I was surprised.  But it's still not great stuff).

It will not cause other cats to lose weight or to lose too much unnecessary weight so long as you feed them enough of it.  And at 458 calories per cup, it's not really that low in calories.  Compare this to Nature's Variety Instincts (chicken meal) which has 491 calories per cup.

You're better off feeding a better food such as the Instinct.  It's next to impossible to diet cats when you feed dry food, but if that's the route you want to take, then please don't risk their health by feeding bad food.

Here's some more stats on the Instincts:

Crude Protein (min): 50.0% (A MUCH better number than the BB).

Crude Fat (min): 22.0% (A more species appropriate number).

Crude Fiber (max): 2.8% (The BB is higher because they want cats to feel fuller, but high fiber isn't necessarily a good thing).

    Moisture (max): 10.0%

Omega 6 Fatty Acids* (min): 3.69%

Omega 3 Fatty Acids* (min): 0.684% (These are relatively pointless in a dry food).

    Taurine: 0.203%

Their rabbit formula has 474 calories and is also a much healthier food.
