  1. No ...they never were.

You won't find any audiophile anywhere who thinks Bose speakers deliver great sound.

Basically, they are high cost mediocre performers (particularly the midrange). See the 1st link. You can get better sound for less money from many, many speakers.

But, if you think they are great, it's your money.

If you want some other suggestions see the 2nd link.

  2. Bose= money Blown On $hitty Equipment. With Bose all your getting is cheap paper cones and electronics- you are paying for all the extensive advertising that they do in all the popular magazines. Look at Onkyo, Denon, Pioneer ( Elite series), and Sony ( ES line ). The hookup and upgrade options are vast as opposed to Bose. Check any audio/video magazine and try to find reviews on Bose- virtually non-existant. Why? Because reviewers don't want to waste their time on  recomending cheap garbage. Save your money, look elsewhere- you'll be happy in the long run that you did!

  3. Absolutely!!! And don’t let anyone tell you other wise.

A lot of people don’t look at the technology Bose puts into them. You would have to spend ten’s of thousand’s to have anything better.

    Edit:

OMG I was just goofing off. Bose has not clue of quality sound.

I was just trying to get a rise from a few audiophiles.

15 thumbs down. That's a record for me. Even if I haven't been doing this that long.

And I don't own and never have own a Bose system.

Sorry Adam I just couldn't help myself. And you should listen to all these fine people. Look around and spend your money wisely.

  4. I went and listened to Klipsch a month ago and I went home with a F-3 system.  I fell in love with the sound.  I used to think Bose sounded best but then I got wise.

  5. Bose never was the best. Small, but not the best.

    Advice on speakers:

"Music is about accuracy, Home Theater is about Impact"

You want a good subwoofer. Something from SVS or HSU Research will give you the impact that impresses.

Then find a set of 5 speakers from a speaker company that sounds good to you with a CD you are familar with.  There are LOTS of good choices like Paradigm, Definitive Technology, Magnapan, Polk, Klipsch, etc.

Get out with a favorite CD and audition.

  6. "Best" is a relative term, and your question really depends on a variety of factors essentially targeted toward what you're really looking for.

If you want the best possible sound on a limited budget, and want very small components, and an integrated, easy to use system, then Bose might be your best option.

However, if your budget allows for a bit more, and you want something that has more to offer than a lot of thump and sizzle (Bose historically is really good at highs and lows, but not really much range), definitely look into something else.

See below for some greater detail.

  7. Bose was never the best. Over hyped, priced and advertised. I have  Paradigm speakers with a Denon receiver that blows away any Bose system. Don't waste your cash on Bose. Go to a high-end audio store, ask around and listen to the systems.

  8. Bose was never the best. They would like to think they are but they aren't.

  9. The best thing you can do is go around and listen to different speakers, and then decide for yourself.

  10. it has nothing to do with who's the best.the sky's the limit if you are looking for home stereos.

It all has to do with what you are happy with in your price ranges.Nobody can tell you whats best for you, they can tell you what some of the best choices are in your price range. The sound whether you are satisfied or not is all up to you

       I know it's not much of a answer,but it's a pretty vague question.

  11. Bose speakers deliver awesome bass and awesome treble but no midrange. Their speakers are usually a sub with a tweeter in each of the 5 front, center and surround speakers. You're best to go with Paradigm, B&W, Definitive Technology speakers....there's other good brands....but those are considered by many to be the best at affordable prices.

  12. I like Bose for car audio but for home theater I like Harmon Kardon.  They are well made and have a very crisp and clean sound.  That being said I've heard some good things about Bose too.  It's a matter of personal preference and budget.  Bose is not the overall best and I'd doubt that it's even the best in your price range...be sure to shop around before making a final decision.

  13. You lead a sheltered life don't you Sleven.
