Is Brad Haddin still a part of Australia’s plans? Opinion
Over the years, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 have produced a number of world-class wicketkeeper/batsmen, who have performed exceptionally well in all sorts of conditions and gave their captains a luxury of having safe glove-men behind the stumps.
In the 1970s and 1980s, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ian-Andrew-Healy-c63758, who had one of the best catching techniques, becoming a role-model for a number of players
all around the world.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adam-Gilchrist-c918, having done well at the domestic level, made his way to the international stage in the late-1990s and changed the trends of modern-day cricket through his ability to destruct the opposition bowlers. According to most sporting analysts, Gilchrist
remains the best wicketkeeper/batsman of the history of the game.
Upon his retirement in 2008, the hard-hitting left-hander was replaced by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BJ-Haddin-c1170, the New South Welshman, who remained under Gilchrist’s wings for almost seven years before making his Test debut in 2008. Haddin however, has had his ups and downs at
the highest stage of the game but most former cricketers believed till the start of this year the veteran remains the best available glove-man for the Baggy Greens.
Meanwhile, Victoria’s young wicketkeeper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 earlier this year, to see
his young daughter, who was not well.
It gave an opportunity to Wade to showcase his talent in Test cricket, with the 24-year-old cricketer grabbing his chance with both hands, scoring a match-winning hundred in just his third match.
Haddin made himself available once again at the start of the current season and has been doing exceedingly well for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757.
The national selection committee however, has so far decided to persist with Wade for the on-going series against South Africa.
Upon scoring a magnificent hundred in his last first-class game against Victoria, the 35-year-old cricketer expressed that he is in the form of his life at the moment.
“My job is to perform here and keep the team moving forward. It was good today to get the result with all the work I've been putting in, but I've felt on top of my game since the first game of the year,” said Haddin.
When asked about his potential comeback in the Test team, Haddin mentioned that he is not too bothered about national selection and just wants to focus on doing well for his state. If he continues to perform well, the wicketkeeper believes that things will
start to fall start to fall at the right place automatically.
“I'm not too worried about it, I know my game's in a really good place and all that stuff will take care of itself,” the wicketkeeper/batsman added. “My job's just to perform here. I'm playing as well as I have for a long time and now it's just about winning
cricket games for NSW.”
Unless or until Wade fails to deliver the goods for Australia, it seems highly unlikely that Haddin will return to the Test team, with the Aussie selectors looking to rebuild their side.
