I was looking at some frightening statistics which revealed that the number of people who were murdered in Brazil in 2003 alone was almost as high as the number of U.S soldiers who were killed in the Vietnam war.

  1. Its not really!

  2. South Africa

    27,531 murders per year

    murder rate 63 per 100,000

    Colombia

    26,893 murders per year

    murder rate 61 per 100,000

    Jamaica

    848 murders per year

    murder rate 32 per 100,000

    Brazil

    35,484

    murder rate 19 per 100,000

    USA

    12,180

    murder rate 4 per 100,000

Brazil has the most amount of muders in a year but not on the top most violent countries on Earth South Africa Columbia and Jamaica are much more violent because its rates remember Brazil has 186,757,608 people if Brazil had the same rate as South Africa, Brazil would see 117,657 murders a year.

  3. Not really. Big cities are usually dangerous, no matter which country you are. Toronto is as calm as a hospital compared to Sao Paulo. Sao Paulo is also calm if you compare it to Johannesburg.

You don´t have to believe truly in statistics if you don´t experience the real thing.

  4. by far no that sad honor would most likly have to go to a country that is at WAR brazil is not at war so i would think a place like iraq or even sudan are farther up there for most dangerous especially africa always has a war going on somewhere so dont generalize

  5. Saci if the U.S is a more violent country than Brazil than how do you explain the fact that Brazil has 23.8 homicides per 100,000 people while in comparison the U.S only has 5.6 homicides per 100,000 people. All of the statistics out there are on my side and not yours Saci.

  6. the latest new says that in brazil there are 142,000 millionaires and is the second worse country in wealth distribution per capita, so it means that 80% workers have a minimum wage income which is less than 300US dollars a month.

    What do you expect?

  7. Yeah, i laugh when people here think their 'hoods' are bad. hahahahah have you heard of a 3rd world country favela ?

  8. yes!

    But depend of the city

Curitiba, Florianopolis and Itajai is so calm

Rio de Janeiro is depend of street. The South Zone is so calm, the North Zone is the same of Los Angeles and West Zone is the same of Detroit.

Sao Paulo, Recife and Brasilia is dangerous, because have many gangs named PCC and they is politics

  9. NO, is Colombia and Russia

  10. south africa colombia and venezuela are 5 times more dangerous than brazil

  11. I live in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.  It is interesting that we tend to feel safe in our home town.  I am traveling to Beirut next month to speak in a conference and I think that must be pretty violent.  Many Brazilians a afraid of going to New York due to the terrorism there.  I have lived in Rio for 20 years and have never been robbed.  I was robbed in Baton Rouge, Louisiana once, but I also felt safe there.

  12. Of course not !!! The USA is the most violent country in the world. We never invaded other countries.

In the USA there are less homicides per capita than in Brazil, but if you put together all the people killed by American citizens out of their country we can get to the conclusion that United States is the most violent country on Earth. The USA also contributes with violence in many other ways:

Example: Here in Brazil I can tell you that the terrible violence rates have a clear cause: the lack of Education.

How it started: In 1964 we had a coup-de-etat supported by American troops, and after that we had a dictatorship until 1990. Some people say 1885, but I disagree - first fair elections only in 1990. The dictators started an educational plan supported by USAID and ruined the Brazilian public educational system, very positive until that moment. Now the young people in Brazil have some of the worst schools in the world.

Unfortunately most of the American citizens are brain-washed, and they thing that  the US is the home of liberty, or something like that, and nobody notices the terrible things the government is doing all the time.

  13. No. The USA are.

Brazilian criminous lernt with them watching the movies. The difference is tha we have not a Hollywood to change the image from a h**l to a paradise in the Earth.

  14. No! Not and all how about IRAQ and Afganistan, Zimbabue, Sierra Leone, Ethiopia, just to name a few?

Iraq is the most violent country on earth at this point.

  15. no! there are guards all over! and i never got robbed, if it was so dangerous i would have been!
