Question:

Is Brazil using Algae to produce an inexpensive and clean-burning fuel?

I heard this from a Chemical engineer that works with the oil company Petrobras, and he said that Ocean Algae is very low maintenance, grows much faster, and has 10 times the yield of corn or sugar cane, so it could be the fuel source of the future. Any takers on this one?

  1. They and others are working on this, but it is not at the comercialization stage.


  2. As far as I know, they use sugar cane to produce the alcohol to run their cars.
