Is Briar Rose a flower, or is it just a name?

This is one common name for the Rosa rubiginosa also called Sweetbriar or Eglantine rose.

According to the site below, it looks like it's just a name.  I looked all around and couldn't find an actual flower with that name.

The Briar Rose is an actual flower. It is also called the Sweet Briar, and it has an unusual property. The foliage emits a strong apple-like odour, which is especially pronounced after rain.
