Is British people friendly??

k...if i walk into a pub alone...will it be easy to make friends?

That depends entirely on the areas and the individuals.

London is the least friendly UK city I visited- yet *many* people there were very friendly and lovely- others weren't.

York is one of the friendliest cities in England. Glasgow, Scotland was hands down the most welcoming place I went (especially in pubs & clubs & theirs are awesome) Its a very youth geared city. I felt totally safe in Glasgow & York

In London I found mostly the older generation was less American friendly-the younger ones were nicer. In London be very wary at night- there are "fake cabs" that hang outside of pubs & clubs just waiting for drunk tourists. They are not licenced with the real British cabs, and women have been raped, robbed or worse.  Stay in a group when leaving such places and if in doubt call a taxi service from the phone book (look up the # before you go out) call for a cab from that service- and get the drivers name and liscence plate # so you know you are getting in a legit cab.

Leicester Square and Soho are the main areas with tons going on at night, so more people are around and its generally safer. If you go to places where less is open its a bit shadier. Not to say other areas aren't safe many are.

Avoid Elephant & Castle area- very unsafe in general- though I don't even know that they have a nightlife- just a bad area

I don't mean to sound too scary I felt pretty safe in London most of the time- and had so much fun- there are just a few more things to be cautious of :)

Overall way more people were friendly than not :)

Depends which part of britain, which pub ect but yeah we are very nice, i think the main problem you will have is understanding British humor which again changes from place to place. RULE BRITANNIA!

it cant be too hard. just because they are british doesnt mean they arnt friendly. my mom has like 4 british friends and they are awesome.

Hmmmn....tricky....but being a girl on her own in the pub....I am sure you could easily 'make friends'.....but are they the people you really want to meet?

some are, some aren't. like every other place in the world.

Start a conversation with the barman/barmaid and tell them that you are new to the area and ask them about the place. They will be only to happy to impart their local knowledge on you and then you will no doubt find other drinkers joining in....and then you are away and making friends.

Well, I don't really wish to badmouth the Brits or anything but it does depend on you and your attitude.

British folks can be quite reserved at times - I can assure you!

I should know; I used to live there!

Um yeah I suppose.

Just asking someone a question like asking if they have change or making a comment on something like (typical, I know) the weather will be a starting point to get chatting to people.

British people are general friendly, so you shouldnt have any problems.

There's nice ppl and not so nice ppl where ever you go really.  Some ppl to watch out for in the U.K. are called hooligans though those types are the ones who like to start fights at the soccer or rugby matches and stuff.  

  Best way to make friends though regardless of where your at or who it is is to always show yourself friendly.
