  1. It is great for your teeth, but tastes god-awful!  Baking soda is gritty, and will scour all the plaque off your teeth, if you can stand the taste.  Long before commercial toothpaste was available, folks used the stuff to scrub their teeth--and the counters, and many other things...

Baking soda is one of the best, cheapest cleaning agents on the planet..and it is ecologically-safe and a natural product.

  2. They put it in toothpaste, I would assume.

It makes your teeth whiter, but that's probably about it.

  3. I am not advocating any brand of toothpaste. You asked about using baking soda. Here is what I found out. I always thought that you could sprinkle a little on your brush along with your toothpaste to give you that just from the hygienist feeling.

Use a good toothpaste that has the qualities you are looking for and always use a soft brush. Replace your brush monthly and make sure you take care of getting dental work done. Get a professional cleaning twice a year if you can afford it.

You only get one set of Adult teeth, so care for them and they will take care of you. Try the maker of baking soda - Arm and Hammer's dental care products. See site below.

  4. strait baking soda has acids in it that will eat away at your teeth so no it isn't and the reason they have it in tooth paste is they have chemical counter reactants that makes the acid not active in the toothpaste

  5. It's a natural whitener.

  6. It's great if you can handle the horrible salty flavor. I cannot do it.

  7. No actually it isn't because baking soda is very abrasive and it wears away the protective enamel on your teeth.
