Is Bucharest really safe? Where should I not go?

I've been there before, and I didn't felt safe at all. I've been to Mexico City, Guatemala City, San Salvador, San Pedro Sula, Chicago, New York, Washigton DC, and I felt less safe in Bucharest. However, that was my impression, not a fact. Is it that unsafe, or am I just exaggerating?

In Bucharest is a problem are many gypsy so you must have great care with your stuff If you think that in Guatemala is more safe than in Bucharest I think you are exaggerating
